3An almost perfect grill but no cigar just yet
By Don Weed
I thought I would review this product as I have never seen a review on it anywhere online before except by magazine writers who never really used one.I wanted others to know what this product offersIt is an interesting beautiful modern hi tech gas grill perfect for tight spaces like small terraces. It is made for the I phone generation that wants something with high style and performance. One of the designers actually once worked at Apple according to past press releases I readFuego the makers of expensive 1500 dollar plus grills and up have come up with a smaller more cost effective model that comes in colors or Stainless SteelSo far on most counts it's a winner. One of the most beautifully designed grilling products in years with some caveats. Check their website out it's a beauty. It is more challenging to cook on then your typical Weber however I imagine with some time one can adjust to the unique design of the burners and the control knob that also takes some adjusting too for self ingnition. It does work fairly well but takes a simple learning curve for ignitionMy complaints so far with this grill is cleaning is somewhat of big challenge under the burners and the grease cup is too tiny and flimsyThe gas tank is hidden behind the stunning perforated colored or Stainless steel curved sheetMy biggest pet peeve however is every time you want to cook you have to remove the metal sheet front plate which otherwise perfectly hides the unsightly gas tank. You then place the curved rounded tank cover somewhere in my case on the floor of my terrace to turn the gas on. It looks awful with the cover off and you now have this cover you have to find a place for until you shut the gas off after cooking and then reinstall the cover. What on earth were they thinking? Incredibly stupid on the part of the designers. This is going to be a deal killer for some. I imagine upcoming on a future design they are going to have to put the door on a hinge or other improved design. Otherwise face a lot of returns or lost sales from folks that find this a major annoyance every time they want to turn the grill onA huge disappointment for what is the most incredible high design grilling product in years to hit the market at an affordable price for what it is.The other very sad element is the company itself. While they publish a clever blog they have no one during regular business hours at the company to answer questions intelligently and do not return phone calls promptly taking days to respond. There is practically no one working at the company. They are more interested in selling products and letting someone else worry about customer concerns. My unit came with a damaged cutting board for example that was poorly packed by Fuego. The voice mail said someone would call back in 3 days or more.Fuego also told me that dealers would have the new grill close to Memorial Day in late May and couldn't be bothered to follow up with me when it would come in. Here it is October and I finally received the grill yesterday. My advice to Fuego? Hire a few folks or outsource to a world class service provider who can advise and inform customers. This would build long term satisfied customers spreading good word of mouth.Fuego is in need of improved customer service that said they do make a stand alone category killer product even with the current above flaws noted. The product performs reasonably well in most cooking attributes especially as I continue to break in the grill. Overall my patience may have paid off overall despite the earlier disappointing business behavior early on of the Fuego folks.Updates March 7th 2010.The Fuego folks now have future thoughts/plans about installing hinged doors on upcoming production models. Call or email to find out. After a few months of back and forth with the Fuego folks they put me in touch with a manufacturer rep that was able to redesign the function of gas door cover to incorporate a working hinge. It has greatly improved my satisfaction with this product. Some of my earlier criticisms are starting to be addressed internally at the company. One may need patience dealing with these folks and their service providers but they do follow through eventually. All in all I do recommend the product for those that seek great design attributes over some shortcomings with functions like cleaning the interior of the grill. An excellent fellow Amazon reviewer Frank Diniz has suggested lining the bottom of the grill with foil which I plan to try. In the end the Fuego folks have kept and lived up to their promises by exchanging the damaged shelf and assisting me in finding a solution to the no hinge door issue. Though I am reasonably satisfied with my purchase based on limited high design grill options in the market place I believe future improved models will be superior to what our first generation products are like. That said it is an acceptable choice as its stands today. Thanks to all for voting my review to the number one position here on Amazon Cheers

4Just What I Was Looking For
By Stewart Emery
I'm an Aussie - so barbecues matter - always wondered why someone didn't make a gas fired Webber Kettle - so lo and behold along comes the Fuego Element Grill - and as other reviews proclaim - it looks great - and for me it grills great - yeah - the cover that gives access to the propane tank is a pain - I find if I unlatch only one side the latches on the other side will allow the cover to "hinge" enough to turn on the valve - much easier than removing the whole thing - also ignore the temperature gauge when preheating - you need to get the cast iron grate (cast iron makes a big difference on a grill) to searing temps before grilling - 550 to 600 degrees - about 15 - 20 min depending on ambient temps (an inexpensive grill surface thermometer is a worthy gadget for checking temps) - follow suggestions of wiping grate with cooking oil and even salmon will not stick - what I like most is how well this grill handles indirect cooking using just the outer burner - our guests tell us we do the best rack of lamb they ever tasted (of course that would be Australian Lamb!) - so far it has been big enough for a dozen guests or so - btw - I carefully tuned gap on the electronic ignition system which made lighting faster - all in all I like this grill a lot - my Webber kettle is now parked in the garage.

4Almost Perfect...
By Glen Anderson
I have had this grill for about a month now and I've probably cooked on it 20 times or so.Here are my Initial Thoughts:The Good:-It's much better looking than just about any grill on the market.-Gets up to temperature fast. The first time I used it, I had it up to 500-deg in no time flat.-Compact design allows it to sit on my back patio. This has been especially useful over the past week since the rain has started.-The cast iron grill leaves the meat with grill lines just like on Food Network-Dual burner design allows me to sear the meat and then turn the middle burner off to allow the food to slow cook.-The food cooks evenly and quickly.-Grill design allows me to easily bring the grill inside for cleaning after using thick sauces. The Bad:-Propane access hatch doesn't have hinges so if you shut off the main propane valve after every use, it can be a bit frustrating. Once you figure out the trick to lining the connectors up, it is no problem.-The Wood table that swings out is a little small, but it is big enough for a normal size plate. I mostly use it to hold beer, sauces or rubs that I use.Overall, this is a great grill. The cooking power it has rivals that of the big grills while remaining in a compact design. It makes me wish I could afford the other, bigger grills by Fuego. I can't wait to try out the pizza stone and griddle.
